Akasha Rabut is from Kaua’i. Her great grandparents immigrated to Hawai’i from the Philippines to work as sugar cane laborers. She is a Filipina American photographer and educator based in New Orleans, La and Hawai’i. Her work explores multi-cultural phenomena and tradition. Akasha founded Creative Council, a mentoring program for young people in New Orleans pursuing careers in the arts. Akasha’s photographs have appeared in museums and galleries around the world. In 2020 she released her first photo book with Anthology Editions - Death Magick Abundance is a collection of images that documents and celebrates 10 years of post Katrina culture.
